In line with our objectives as collective and social activist group, we do believe in empowerment; that knowledge can be a tool to liberation and that education is a social experience and much of the learning methods are influenced by the work of Paulo Freire.

That is the reason why we are launching in 2016 our series of social workshops, both empowering and practical knowledge to survive and give you tools in the workplace.

MIGRANT RESISTANCE FORUM

PIE is organising an event to discuss and meet other migrants groups and share our work with those groups. Our main aim is: collaboration and solidarity between ourselves.

The current climate regarding migrants in UK (in Scotland), where we are being considered second class citizens and the last two immigration laws Tory reforms plus the hatred promoted by the media forces us to have a more defensive line in order to maintain our basic human rights.

We feel that we are the target of a vile demonization and for that reason we think this Resistance Migrant Forum would be a positive force for all of us; seek support in other groups and perhaps learn from each other and support each other to prevent stereotyping and prejudice.

We would like to invite you to share with us, as group, what you do, your goals and aims and your thoughts about this political backlash that all migrants are suffering. It would be a talk of around 15 minutes.

It would be helpful for us if you send us a brief summary of this presentation so we can include it in our programme and if you have a logo and want it to appear in the publicity please send that as well, if possible in a jpeg format.

The Forum would be held in Lecture Theatre G1.83 (Law Entrance), Old College, University of Edinburgh, on 24 and 25 of October 2015.

The following is a basic structure of the day, but full programme will follow.

Saturday 24 October 2015
• am -Presentations
• Lunch
• pm -Presentations

Sunday 25 October 2015
• Community lunch and networking.

We hope that you can join us and share your experience with us. please contact us
